Artist William Jones

William Jones was awarded the Center for Black Studies research fellowship in 2003.
Mr. Jones taught computer graphics, design, and illustration at the University of Education in Winneba, Ghana. While based in Ghana, he traveled to other African countries including Togo, Benin, Tanzania, and Kenya. His photo-documentation and digital illustration from this period capture the vibrant spiritual energy he experienced during social rituals and sacred ceremonies.
Mr. Jones’s mastery of design-based technologies, his personal experiences in Africa, and his passion for education are incorporated in Synergy: Diaspora to the Digital, published by the Center for Black Studies. . William Jones is currently living in New York City, where he is a freelance graphic designer and an adjunct computer professor at two local colleges. He serves as a program director for a non-profit organization that provides children’s services in East Harlem.
