CBSR Advisory Committee member and former director Claudine Michel has been appointed executive director of the Haitian Studies Association (HSA), the prestigious international and interdisciplinary scholarly organization dedicated to Haiti.

Dr. Michel became co-executive director in January 2017 and was voted sole executive director by the HSA membership in November 2017.

This further consolidates the CBSR's position as a central site for Haitian Studies research worldwide. It also strengthens the ongoing partnership between HSA and CBSR, which has published the HSA's Journal of Haitian Studies (edited by Dr. Michel) since 1995.

We congratulate Dr. Michel on this tremendous achievement.
