In this opening session of the Race, Space, and Place: Ethnography and the Digital Humanities workshop series, facilitators and participants work together to identify shared research areas. We will think through the analytical, conceptual and ethical considerations of conducting social science research in African American communities. In the session, students will discuss the following key question: How do we translate the multi-dimensionality of Black life in the United States within the constraints of digital tools that were designed to generate 2D renderings of social phenomena?
