Louisiana: Race, Climate Change, and the Carceral State

This talk explores the social impact of the privatization of New Orleans’ Public Schools in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. In this presentation, Dr. Hosbey argues that the undemocratic conversion of public schools to charter schools fractured, but did not break, space and place-making in low income and working class Black communities in New Orleans.
