Image of social movement in Colombia

Postdoctoral Scholar Bladimir's recent article in global-e journal.

The article explains how Buenaventura, a majority Afro-Colombian city in Colombia, faces “organized abandonment,” meaning long-term neglect by the state despite its importance as a major port. It emphasizes how racial capitalism shapes this neglect: while the city generates wealth through global trade, its Black population experiences poverty, violence, and lack of public services. The article argues that economic development benefits outside interests, while racialized communities are systematically excluded and marginalized.
