As a Ronald E. McNair scholar, my undergraduate research work focused on the impact of COVID-19 on underrepresented student populations within Atlanta University Center (Morehouse College, Spelman College, & Clark Atlanta University). The purpose of this study was to investigate psychological and behavioral responses to the on-going pandemic and to understand how social influence factors, psychological and health-protective behaviors are important for developing effective strategies that will support ethnic minority groups in ways that will prevent virus transmission and decrease fatalities among these high-risk populations.
As a UCLA STEER scholar, I am currently working on a research study that focuses on educational tracking on low-socioeconomic African American/Caribbean students and to examine the psychological effects of tracking that negatively impact low-socioeconomic students.
