Jeffrey Conrad Stewart is an American Professor of Black Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in Biography and the 2018 National Book Award for Nonfiction for The New Negro: The Life of Alain Locke, who was a queer philosopher and architect of the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Arts Movement. Dr. Stewart is also a member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences.
